After his 2011 hit The Parade, Srdjan Dragojević returns with a new dark comedy that deals with subjects like faith and religion in three segments. In first segment, ‘Sin’, set in 1993, Stojan, a convinced communist, wakes up with a halo after an accident with a bulb. Grace is set in 2001 and focused on Gojko, who believes that a saint can talk to him via mobile phones. And in The Golden Calf, set in 2026, gallery owner Julia discovers that Gojko can paint a painting that sates hunger. With a mix of slapstick and dark humour typical of Serbian cinema, Heavens Above is one of Dragojević’s best films and the perfect cure for a rainy November day.
