DISTANCE is an experimental film that looks co-existing modes of time through the framework of a specific place, Glenbride in West Wicklow in Ireland. The film is told from three distinct perspectives: The memory of a mountain, the memory of a house and human memory, all interwoven to create a dream-like impression of a place over time. We harness the geographical to the historical to the psychological to create a film work that echoes James Joyce’s words ‘Places Remember Events’ (written in the margins of ‘Ulysses’) and aim to unearth the faint but perceptible traces left in the landscape.
