Luxor is the story of Hana, a British aid worker, who travels to the ancient Egyptian city of the title in search of solace after a traumatic experience working on the Jordanian-Syrian border. There she unexpectedly rekindles passions with an old flame, and contends with the lingering internal wounds from her recent experience. The sophomore feature from director Zeina Durra features an evocative central performance from Andrea Riseborough, with the stunning backdrop playing a quietly pivotal role in this understated yet stirring drama.
