Cork International Film Festival is delighted to partner with Cork City Council to present a special St. Patrick’s Festival programme of Irish film shorts. There may be no parade again this year however fans of Irish culture can still enjoy a free selection of film treats to watch online from 13th to 17th March! From heart-warming stories of a mother’s love to an Irish dancing drama, there will be something to delight and entertain you in the comfort of your own home.

A teenage marching band rehearses on a rooftop car park. A flock of crows lie dead in the wind. Three people sit in the back of a car waiting to move. Motion Sickness is a short dance film that looks at need, rejection and escape. The film is a collaboration between award winning duo, choreographer Jessica Kennedy and filmmaker John McIlduff.

The family portrait of three struggle between boredom and the need for love. A marching band weaves through the car park as the dancers twist and move in trios, fight in twos and laugh as sisters. There is a sinister yet playful feeling within the story and in their movements. Fingers go up noses, the painted white lines are stamped on, a lone bird flies onto a lamppost.

The film is commissioned by RUA RED South County Dublin Arts Centre as part of Jessica Kennedy’s Dancer in Residence 2012 scheme, funded by the Arts Council.

Motion Sickness has won numerous awards and screened in over 35 festivals worldwide
